The Lawen Group is delighted to announce the naming of our Mumford Project (7037 Mumford Road) which has officially been named West 22. It will have a mix of residential and commercial units and as of recently the building’s residential unit count has raised to 140.
Dexel is currently pouring their 13th floor with their window wall installation set to begin by the end of May. Framing has begun along with the installation of the pad mount transfer. There will be +/- 11,000 sq ft of commercial space available for lease. The Lawen Group are pleased to announce the that Dexel will begin work on the latest project for the Lawen Group at 7037 Mumford Road.
This latest development will be a mix-use multi-residential building with ground floor retail, office space and residential rentals. The building is 22-storeys, 120 residential rentals with underground and surface parking.
Demolition of the existing building at 7037 Mumford Road will commence December 9th, 2019. Excavation is expected to commence in January 2020 with structure beginning in the Spring. The project is expected to be completed in 2022.

Both projects received unanimous approval for site-specific Municipal Planning Strategies (MPS) from HRM Regional Council on July 15th & 16th respectively.

Government announced an agreement with Dexel Developments today, April 26, to develop the Truscan site. The site includes the Dennis Building, Hansard Building and an adjacent parking lot on Granville Street in Halifax.
Dexel was the successful proponent among five pre-qualified proponents to lease the site.
“This ensures we can protect the integrity of this site in a historic area adjacent to Province House and the Grand Parade,” said Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal Minister Lloyd Hines.
“We are excited to be working with the province and Halifax Regional Municipality on this project,” said Louie Lawen, president and CEO of Lawen Group, the parent company of Dexel. “We are eager to get started on the next steps to make this project come to fruition.”
Dexel has proposed a nine-storey, mixed-use residential and retail project.
The province has set restrictions regarding the site including:
Dexel must have development approval from Halifax Regional Municipality within 18 months and complete the project within 42 months of that approval for the agreement to remain valid.

Named after George Lawen, the design of the logo comes from the nearby Halifax Commons pathways, both natural and manmade. The pathways of the commons connect the North, East, South and West Ends of Halifax. The pathways were also commonly traveled by many members of the Lawen family as they crisscrossed the commons to service their growing property management business.
The George will be a 14 storey mix-use residential development with 172 residences.
